Salvage operations are managed through the mobiGlas Contracts Manager, where successfully completing introductory missions allows you to build a reputation that unlocks high-value contracts, while avoiding illegal jobs—failure to do so will result in a criminal record. Outside of missions, scanning the environment allows you to locate profitable debris fields by targeting radar signatures with a value of 2,000 or higher. Finally, operational safety requires constant vigilance against piracy, the mandatory carrying of a tractor beam—or risk having your cargo immobilized—and a rigorous selection of sales outlets to sell your stock at the best price.

The Mission and Contract System
Structured salvage opportunities are available through the Contracts Manager on your mobiGlas.
- Contract Information: Each entry details the site location, recommended equipment, and estimated compensation (aUEC, rare components, RMC, or construction materials).
- Progression and Reputation: You start with simple contracts to learn the basics. Successfully completing these missions boosts your reputation and unlocks larger, riskier, and more lucrative projects.
- Scale of Operations: Light missions are carried out solo (e.g., in the RSI Salvation), while large-scale missions require crew coordination (e.g., aboard an Aegis Reclaimer).
- Legal Risks: Be wary of contracts of dubious or illegal origin: a mistake on an unauthorized website can quickly result in you being assigned a crime index (Crimestat).
Detection of debris outside the mission
You don't need an active contract to find raw materials. Searching on your own for scattered debris panels is a very profitable alternative.
- Using the scanner: Turn on your onboard scanner to scan the area for signatures.
- Key Signature: Specifically identify radar signatures that appear as multiples of 2,000. These values reliably indicate the presence of debris patches that can be used for hull scraping.

To maximize your profitability and ensure the safety of your crew, keep these best practices in mind:
- Safety Alert: "Today's salvage operation is tomorrow's wreck." Crash sites attract looters and rival salvage operators; stay constantly on alert.
- Essential Tractor Beam: Never head to a job site without a tractor beam module or tool (Tractor Beam / MaxLift). Without it, a Multi-Tool is nothing more than a paperweight, and you won’t be able to handle or load your SCU containers.
- Sales Optimization: Don't rush to buy the first terminal you come across. Compare purchase prices in major urban centers to maximize your gross margin.
